Basionym: Q. minor var. margaretta Ashe (1894). Named for Margaret Haywood Henry (1856-1939), later Mrs Ashe. Misspelled "margarettiae" in the World Checklist and Bibliography of Fagales (1998). Corrected from original "margaretta" which is regarded as an orthographical error.
