The classification of Q. petraea subsp. iberica (or Quercus iberica ) and Q. petraea subsp. polycarpa (or Quercus polycarpa) is a matter of taxonomic debate. Depending on the authority consulted, they are treated either as the same taxon or as two distinct taxa. For the time being, they are kept here as two distinct taxa.
